The 1999/00 season, when Thierry Henry wore Arsenal's classic red and white home shirt, marked the beginning of his legendary career at the club. Henry had been signed from Juventus in August 1999, and although he started the season without scoring in his first few games, he was soon to show his enormous potential.
Henry finished the season as Arsenal's top scorer with 26 goals across all competitions, 17 of which came in the Premier League. His pace, technique and ability to score spectacular goals made him a fan favourite in record time. A memorable moment was his debut goal against Southampton, where he demonstrated his ability to create goals out of thin air.
The team as a whole reached the UEFA Cup final, where they unfortunately lost to Galatasaray on penalties. In the Premier League, Arsenal finished second to Manchester United, but Henry's performances promised a bright future for both him and the club.
The 1999/00 season was the start of an era in which Thierry Henry would become synonymous with Arsenal and cement his place as one of the greatest players in the club's history.
